The Jamaica Gleaner today carries a very good article entitled "Studio Bands Fall Apart". The article reports on how the birth of the digital era, from King Jammy's Sleng Teng rhythm onwards, signalled the end of the traditional studio house band.

The Gleaner quotes Jackie Jackson, bass player for the Supersonics;

"When you put on a record you could hear a Coxsone tune and a Duke Reid (Treasure Isle owner) tune and you could hear the difference... Now everything is the same, because everything is mechanical," Jackson said.
