Buju Banton - Doesn't Condone Gay Bashing

The pandemonium surrounding three of reggae's biggest artists signing the Reggae Compassion Act continues. Sizzla, Beenie Man and Capleton were all reported as having signed the Act.

Beenie Man is now claiming that he didn't sign anything and that "maybe the promoters signed it". All three artists' reputations have taken a battering recently once the situation made it on to large reggae forums such as DancehallReggae.com.

But now Buju Banton has added his name into the mix by releasing a statement to One876Entertainment saying:

I was a child when I wrote those lyrics... but let me make it clear that I do not encourage or condone violence towards any human being, and that includes our gay brothers and sisters.

Current comments on the article don't seem supportive of Buju:

"MI FEEL SHAME. JAH KNOWS. A DEM ARTIST YAH A REPRESENT JAMAICA MORALS AND CULTURE FI YEARS, AND NOW A SELL THEM SOUL"

"All a di dread dem a sell out, caa no rasta naa bow, especially to no batty boy. "

One poster even posts new names for the artists involved:

"New name for the sell outs.. shezzla, caplethong, queenieman and juju..... dam battyboys.. guh suck unnuh mumma."
